July In Photos

The first of the month, our 2 12-year-old nieces stayed with us a week and we had a blast, eating Jack In the Box tacos on the roof at 2am, making pasta with Rhett on Sunday afternoon, swimming, going to a movie, and making this Halloween costume:

Back to Highland on our way home.  Grandma took all the grand kids to TOY STORY 3 and it blew RJ's mind and was awesome.  His first movie in a theatre and he did great and was totally glued to the movie the whole time.  Magic of childhood.
had a temporary mohawk for 2 days
continue to love treats.
where has July gone?  It's been fun and busy.  We had a visit from Rhett's parents, who graciously brought us a load of purple slate to pave our patio with...that's been my next project I need to do.  But Rhett is on OB next, and will have a little more time this month, so maybe he'll have a little time to help too.
First rotation of residency down!  Not as bad as I expected to have my husband work 80 hours a week.  It's always good to have low expectations, for example I'd been preparing to have a couple melt downs and at least one complete freak out.  But it was great, and it wasn't bad at all for me.  I think residency will be a lot better than med school, but I don't want to speak too soon.  We're enjoying things actually.

Archie

I went to pick up RJ from nursery Sunday and they handed me this paper.
I said: "Oh that's not his."
Teacher: "Oh it's his, that what we call him."
I busted up laughing, because I thought it was funny, like they assign each kid a nickname.
Teacher: "We couldn't remember what you said, we were all like, "what did she say his name was?"

So I said thanks and left, and realized she got "Archie" from "R.J."  He's only 2, but I thought he could say his name pretty well so you could understand, but then I remembered they couldn't understand me.

I guess I need to enunciate better.
But in the mean time we've been calling him Archie.
Is Archie short for Archibald or something?

Here's what Archie's been up to.
I left the room for a few minutes, and he climbed up on the counter, grabbed the whole watermelon, plopped it on his lap, and went to town.  It was a mess.  He's even taken a stack of napkins and was soaking up the juice from the bottom of his crater he'd eaten.
